Inclusion for me, inclusion for you, inclusion for everyone!

To be honest, being part of the LGBTQIA+ community is most definitely not always shiny and colorful, as our flags are. Whilst the society we live in still witnesses expressions of homophobic behavior towards queer people, we manage to thrive in our personal and collective journeys, both as individuals and professionals. The 2020 National Survey on LGBTQIA+ Youth Mental Health stated there are more than 1 in 3 LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing discrimination in the workplace in the US, with severely increased rates amongst transgender and non-binary folks. In my country, Brazil, 68% of the LGBTQIA+ youth experience discrimination within the workplace, despite the current Federal Law which edited the legislation regarding discrimination and prejudice, to outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

We bravely and brilliantly have been occupying more and more positions in multiple industries – and, as the room to diversity enlarges, the greater are the possibilities for our community to be part and act within the companies aiming for a more inclusive culture. I am a part of this community, and it is mind expanding to have this opportunity to speak up about me – not about what I can produce, but about who I am and what I go through as a human being. I can testify how a work culture of inclusion and diversity heavily affects my professional performance, as it generates a healthy and welcoming work environment, where who I am as a person is not segregated, but beautifully celebrated and appreciated.

At 10K Humans, we not only have a safe space to develop and grow, but we also have security to share our thoughts and inputs as a team, well assured that we are being honestly heard and taken into consideration into formulating our company’s next steps.
